On completion you should be able to demonstrate these Learning Outcomes

  1. Have the technical knowledge and organisation skills to produce interactive multimedia support for commercial uses, understanding methods of producting a range of interaction and multimedia (Organisation, Production)
  2. An ability to analyse user/client requirements, goals and restraints order to provide appropriate solutions. (Creative synthesis, Contextualisation)
  3. Be able to discover and test the needs of the users. (Communication, Research)
  4. Be able to produce well finished and aesthetically pleasing design. (Visual analysis, Production)

A designed prototype - which would give the targeted user a good understanding of how the intended product would work (A, B, C, D)
A presentation to a panel (A, C)
A design proposal which should illustrate your understanding and analysis of the problem (A, B, C)

Students will be judged on a design proposal and prototype which should illustrate their understanding of hypermedia, multimedia and user needs. The would should show the student's use of this understanding to create an artefact which is relevant and appropriate to the chosen topic and users and the student's knowledge of the cultural context and technological constraints. The proposed hypermedia package should also have a high level of usability and aesthetic quality.

To achieve a pass (grades 4-6) you must complete all the assessment tasks and you must have also demonstrated achievements that include the use of aesthetic judgement/critical awareness, understanding of the problem, technical knowledge and the application of interactive design principles.

The achieve the highest grade (grades 13-15) you must complete all the assessment tasks and you must also have demonstrated achievements that include the use and development of aesthetic judgement/critical awareness, understanding any analysis of HCI principles and evidenceof personal research of further relevant HCI principles. Additionally the work should include substantial evidence of the development of a personal style, personal skill or of innovation.

Non-specialist computing facilities for email, Internet access, work processing, database, spreadshet and basic presentations will be available through LLRS/ITS facilities on campus, not from within the School itself - the exception being the School's Student Browsers based in studios which will support email and Internet access.
